Who We Are

31st Ayrshire (Loans) Scout Group is a community-based and charity organisation located in Loans, near Troon. We are dedicated to providing scouting activities, support, and opportunities for young people, with a focus on impacting the lives of kids and preparing them with skills for life.

Our aim is to offer valuable experiences and opportunities for personal growth, promoting personal development, outdoor skills, leadership qualities, educational programs, and community service initiatives in a safe and supportive environment.

We also focus on character building and making a positive impact on the lives of young individuals.

What We Do

We offer a wide range of scouting activities and for young people in the community. Our activities include camping, hiking, games, cooking, bush skills and much more. We also run educational programs that help young people develop new skills and knowledge, such as first aid, navigation, and survival skills.

We believe that community service is an important part of scouting, and we encourage our members to participate in service initiatives that benefit the local community.

Our programs are designed to help young people develop leadership qualities, build self-confidence, and make new friends in a safe and supportive environment.

Our History

31st Ayrshire (Loans) Scout Group was formed on 9th March 1950, initially operating from an old wooden hut used as a temporary shelter for farm workers, the Group expanded over the years, undertaking significant efforts to secure a permanent scout hut in the 1960s.

After extensive planning and community involvement, the new hut was completed in 1968. Over the years, the Group has continued to grow and modernise its facilities, including a major refurbishment in 2002 funded by the National Lottery Charities Board.

Throughout its 75 year history, Loans Scout Group has remained dedicated to providing valuable scouting experiences for young people in the community.
